Capt. R. L. Sewell. long with the Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company was born in Quebec in 1854. He was educated at Bishop's College, Lennoxville. Before he took to sailing he had a banking experience of nearly ten years. While living in Winnipeg he served as a lieutenant in the 90th Winnipeg Rifles through the Northwest Rebellion. Then he went to Florida and stayed there for over four years, eventually returning to Canada because he could not stand the climate of the Gulf States. In 1891 Capt. Sewell joined the Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company line. He was successfully on the Spartan,Algerian,Corsican and Passport.Capt. Sewell is married and his home is at Belleville
