Capt. Peter Lawson was born on September 10, 1850 in Christiania, Norway and can boast some Vikings among his ancestors. His grandfather was an ocean mariner. When he was 24 years old, in 1874, Capt. Lawson began sailing on the steamer Wenonah in the lakes of Muskoka. Since then he has sailed several boats including the steamer Lake Joseph, the steamer Wenonah, the steamer Kenozsha* and the steamer Ahmic.Capt. Lawson was married to Miss Otillia Jorgenson at Christiania in 1873, and they have a family of two sons and six daughters. One son, Peter Alexander Lawson, is a mariner.
