[Maillefert & Raasloff to Begly, 6 Jun 1854]MONTREAL, 6th June, 1854.Sir,-The undersigned beg respectfully to inform you that they have commenced operations in the Coteau Rapids, and that they expect to meet Mr. James Stewart here to day, and thereafter to go over the ground with him, and to receive information from him relative to the survey made by him. They are, under these circumstances, very much in need of the maps with which it is the intention of the Department to furnish them, and therefore took the liberty to send you a telegraphic despatch expressing the wish that you would do them the favor, if possible, to forward such of the instruments and maps as may now be ready, by the John Munn, the receipt of one map (copy,) and a sextant to-morrow, would in a measure enable the undersigned to proceed without delay with Mr. James Stewart to the field of operations, and to verify as much as necessary the points determined by Mr. Stewart. Very respectfully,Your most obedient servants, MAILLEFERT & RAASLOFF. Thomas A. Begly, Esquire, Secretary, Department of Public Works, Quebec. P. S.-Address: St. Lawrence Hall.
