It is with regret that we report the passing of T.M.H.S. member John Raymond Smith, in his 86th year, on November 2, 1981, at Midland, Ontario. Ray Smith was born in Penetanguishene, resided for most of his lifetime in Midland, and worked for N. M. Paterson and Sons Ltd. He retired from the position of chief engineer in 1960.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife and family, and we offer our thanks to Capt. Ted Belcher for advising us of Ray Smith's passing.
