All vessels must have an air pipe at least two inches in diameter, introduced into the saltstop between each frame; the pipes either to pass up through the covering board and to reach to within three or four inches of the underside of rail; or o end at the covering board, in which case good valves must be fixed over the holes in the covering board. It is recommended that in vessels built with chocked frames, the spaces between chocks be filled with salt.
